Rhino Quick start – Week 1 Cheat sheet

Plane Plane

Creates a Plane Surface.  Follow the prompts, make the first corner at the origin (0,0,0).  then input a length and width of 400mm

Rebuild Rebuild: Edit –> Rebuild

Rebuilds the ‘density’ of a surface or curve.

Points On (F10) Points On (F10): Turns on the control points of a surface or curve.
Hold Shift, and select To add to your selection
Hold Ctrl, and select To subtract from your selection
Hold Shift As you drag or draw, will maintain an Orthogonal movement
Layer Opens the Layer panel.  the little ‘tick’ indicates the current layer.
Properties Opens the properties panel
Move Move selected Objects (hold down shift for Ortho movement)
Rotate Rotate selected Objects (hold down shift for 90 deg rotation)
Group (Ctrl G)

Ungroup

Group selected Objects / Ungroup selected Objects
ViewCaptureToFile /

ViewCaptureToClipboard

Takes a screen shot of the current Rhino viewport.  ~toFile will ask you to save it somewhere, ~toClipboard will save it in Window’s memory, to be pasted somewhere else.
SelText Selects all the Text objects in the Document
Explode Explodes objects into their base parts (e.g. polysurfaces to many single surfaces, polylines to many single lines, Text objects into curves.)
Text Adds text (editable)
TextObject Adds a TextObject  as Curve, Surface or Solid geometry objects (non-editable text)

To set your own hotkeys (shortcut keys):  Tools –> Options –>Keyboard

other windows stuff:

Alt, Print screen Takes a screen shot of  the current window and saves it to the clipboard.
Print screen Takes a screen shot of the entire screen
