Been slowly remodeling that knot pendant, having a play and seeing if anything interesting could come of it. The surface was originally made in a different program (called Surface Evolver) but I offset it in Rhino and plonked it into TopMod for the first time:
and simply hit it with a Catmull Clark remesh, resulting in this nuttiness:
a quick check in Rhino shows how the TopMod remeshing has exploded the original mesh, making it look cool but completely unusable for 3d printing:
so I thought I’d try it again, this time only using a single mesh, without the offset thickness:
this is how it looks in Rhino:
then ran a silly Rhinoscript over it
