So the script that Jessica wrote didn’t work for me as I modelled my light as a polysurface. I (we) had the task of manually drawing each rib and join which wasn’t so daunting as the geometry is simple and repetitive.
The array polar command saved me hours of repetitive manual drawing. Throw in a few guides and in a matter of minutes you can perfectly segment and arrange a model.
I used a half lap joinery system to connect the cut ribs together transforming a series of 2D objects into a succinct 3D model
Again by using the array polar command I was able to literally draw ONE half lap and then distribute it in equal segment multiple times.
